The Mountain Collection.
Michele’s Mountain Collection is inspired by the landscapes that leave lasting imprints on the soul. Each piece captures the depth and emotion of these natural wonders, blending rich textures, bold strokes, and dynamic colour to reflect the ever-changing light and energy of the mountains.
More than just scenery, these paintings are a tribute to the places Michele has hiked, that made her pause, breathe, and feel connected to something bigger than herself.

Some days, I swear the mountains do a better job of holding my memories than I do. When I get lost in their beauty, they seem to remember the feelings I can’t quite name. The people I quietly miss. The parts of myself that feel a little out of reach. This painting came to life on a rainy afternoon. You know, the kind of day that invites nostalgia to settle in and stay awhile. I was missing someone. Missing the mountains. Quietly craving the kind of peace that only comes from being in nature. So, I let all the moody blue paint provide layer upon layer of comfort.
The contrast of light and dark, the stillness, the way the mountains separate lake from sky; they are the keepers of one’s most guarded thoughts and feelings. This painting, like Waterton itself, a hidden gem, holds something hidden for me. A memory, a feeling, a moment that’s mine. Quiet, but deeply felt. And I like that. I like that not everything needs to be explained, that some things can just be.
I didn’t paint this to tell you what to feel. I painted it to feel what I needed to. To feel a connection. But maybe it stirs something in you too. A place, a person, a piece of yourself you’re quietly carrying.
Nostalgia has a way of doing that. So do the mountains, they always remember.

“Awakening” captures the serene beauty of Waterton Lake from the iconic Bear's Hump trail, a place that has recently become a special destination for me. This view, with its sweeping expanse of the lake and the surrounding peaks, evokes a deeply personal moment in my life—a weekend in Waterton that reignited my creative spark. It was a time when I felt disconnected from my inspiration, questioning my creative path. Yet, in the presence of these towering mountains, surrounded by the stillness of the lake, something shifted within me. The scenery, the beauty of those stunning mountains, awakened a part of me I had lost and wanted to reconnect with.
For me, this painting captures the feeling of the morning sun rising in the distance, slowly casting light through the valley at the start of a new day. This moment of quiet illumination mirrors the subtle shift I experienced in my own journey—a gradual awakening that weekend, like the dawning of a brand new day. “Awakening” is a tribute to those moments in life when something or someone helps us see things in a new light. It’s a reminder of the people and experiences that shift our perspectives, sparking new self-awareness, a deeper appreciation for the simple things and the people in our lives, or a renewed sense of purpose. This painting is a celebration of how the world around us, whether through a beautiful landscape or the people we encounter—has the power to inspire and awaken the potential within us, even when we least expect it.

Fisher Peak in all it’s presence brings together textured blues and a sky alive with the glowing light of the Northern Lights—a luminous dance inspired by Van Gogh’s swirling brushstrokes. There’s something about his art that captures the beauty and chaos of inspiration, and I like to think he, too, faced moments of feeling disconnected from his work.
This piece reflects my own journey of finding my way back to what inspires me. After a creative pause, I turned to the mountains for clarity. Their timeless strength and stillness reminded me that even when we feel stuck or uninspired, the spark we’re searching for hasn’t vanished; it’s simply just waiting for the right moment to reappear.
The movement of the northern lights symbolize that renewal, a reminder that finding our way back is part of the process. The ebb and flow of the creative process. Whether it’s creativity, a passion, or a connection you’ve lost, it’s always possible to rediscover what lights you up.
My hope is this painting will inspire you to keep climbing, even when the path feels uncertain. The glow of inspiration is always there, just waiting to shine again when the clouds part.

The first mountain painting in my “Soulful Wonders of the Wild” collection is inspired by the cherished memories that flood my mind every time I drive through the breathtaking Rocky Mountains and catch sight of this stunning sentinel.
As I embarked on the artistic journey of constructing this particular mountain piece, I found myself immersed in the nostalgia of many memories created with Mount Rundle as the backdrop. Memories of cycling adventures rushed back, fuelling my spirit and filling my heart with joy. I couldn’t help but recall a memorable picnic shared with a very close and special friend - a moment of connection and gratitude that will forever remain etched in my soul. As the mountain evolved, additional memories of my son’s exciting hockey tournaments emerged, along with many day trips to the area to savour the abundance of adventure that Banff has to offer. It amazes me how these mountains can evoke such a range of emotions and memories, whether you stand at the summit, gazing upon the vast views, or experience other precious moments from below with the mountains as a backdrop.
As you gaze upon this painting, I sincerely hope you discover your own personal connection with nature - a connection that resonates and holds meaning for you. May it serve as a reminder of your own special moments and shared experiences with the people who enrich your life. Allow Remembering Rundle to inspire you to be present, fully immersed in the beauty of the natural world, and to cherish the love and connections you find in the presence of others and never forget those soulful memories made in the mountains.

A tribute to my favourite artist and a cherished addition to the Soulful Wonders of the Wild Collection. Starry Summit emerged from a transformative journey to New York City in 2023, to witness the brilliance of Van Gogh’s “Starry Night.” My painting is an attempt to weave the delicate threads of artistic resonance with the unbridled beauty of nature’s peaks.
Starry Summit stands as an artistic reflection of the poignant moment when I stood before Van Gogh’s brushstrokes, a symphony of vibrant blues and textured nuances. This experience standing before that stunning painting, stirred within me the realization that an artist from centuries past painted with a timeless passion - a passion that, as a contemporary artist, I am privileged to share and celebrate in a world that recognizes its profound value.
At its core, this soulful painting marries Van Gogh’s vibrant blues with the awe-inspiring sentinel of Fisher Peak. Though I have yet to conquer that majestic summit, its allure resonates within me much like the impact of admiring Van Gogh’s paintings on that personally moving day. Starry Summit captures the tactile sensation of standing amidst nature’s beauty and the delicate dreams that Van Gogh once translated onto canvas - a beautiful blend of the tangible and the intangible.
This unique creation is my endeavour to blend Van Gogh’s essence within my own artistic style, serving as a reminder that I am not merely an observer of art’s legacy, but an active participant. While I will never fully replicate the legacy of Van Gogh’s mesmerizing masterpieces, I am leaving behind a piece of myself, a heartfelt chapter in the story of my life.

This painting is happiness, plain and simple. The kind that the mountains consistently give me.
It’s early mornings, fresh air filling your lungs, and that quiet excitement before the day unfolds. It’s laughter echoing off rocky faces, inside jokes, silly photos, and stories that get a little more exaggerated the higher you climb. It’s friendships deepened over shared views, mischief, and moments that don’t need to be posted. It’s those converstaions that lead to the pinky swear of “what’s said in the mountains stays in the mountains.”
It’s also me, proudly rocking my crazy hiking socks, because if you can’t be a little wild and colourful in the mountains, where can you? These blues and greens carry that same energy; joyful, unapologetic, and fully present. No rushing. No outside noise. Just connection; to nature, to people, and to that carefree part of ourselves that comes alive when surrounded by peaks.
The mountains remind me how easy it is to feel so alive and happy when you slow down, look around, laugh a little louder, and simply enjoy the moment and those around you.

Sometimes the most important messages aren’t loud. They sit quietly in the background, waiting for us to really see them. Just like this quote. At first glance, it’s easy to miss the words, but once you see them, you can’t unsee them.
So many opportunities show up in our lives and we hesitate. We overthink. We wait for the “right” timing, more certainty, more confidence, more permission. And while thought and intention do matter, too often what we call timing is actually fear. A fear of judgment, of getting it wrong, of stepping outside what feels safe.
That dream, that trip, that class, that conversation, that letter you keep rewriting in your head… they don’t need perfection or the right time. They need courage. Bravery. Because waiting doesn’t make the fear disappear, it just makes the moment pass.
So if there’s something pulling at you, nudging you, quietly asking for your attention… listen. Take the step. Say the words. Make the choice.
Because honestly,
If not now, then when?

The truth? I’m a little afraid to reveal this latest mountain painting. Afraid in that naked and afraid kind of way. This piece feel different. It has me feeling exposed.
In this first mountain painting in this new body of work, the familiar layers of blue have been stripped away. What remains is texture. That raw and bold exposed rock standing bare on the canvas. No colour to hide behind. Just what’s there, in plain sight.
Time has a way of doing the same to us. As it passes, layers fall away; both in ourselves and in our relationships. Over time, people reveal who they are, sometimes through words, sometimes through actions. Those moments can invite safety, allowing us to soften, to remove our own layers, and to be vulnerable in return. Other times, they remind us to protect ourselves, to rebuild walls, not out of bitterness, but out a need for boundaries and care for our own hearts.
This work is a quiet nod to that truth. When the filters, the makeup & fancy clothes, the emotional armor are all removed. What remains is something wonderful and honest. Beauty on the surface can catch the eye, but the truest, most powerful version of who we are lives beneath it all. And there is something incredibly liberating, deeply human even, about being seen and accepted for who we are, without disguise.
Like the mountains, we carry our marks, our strength, and our story in plain sight. And sometimes, standing bare is not weakness at all it’s courage.

This painting is a dedication to a revelation I discovered while standing atop Pocaterra Ridge, taking in the beauty of the mountains surrounding me. In that moment, in my happy place, in the still of the mountain air, I felt the weight of unanswered questions dissolve. The view wasn’t just breathtaking, it was grounding. It was as if the mountains around me were urging me to pause, to be still, to truly listen. And in that stillness, clarity of something I was struggling with found me.
I poured that moment into this painting—every textured ridge, every shift of light, every shade of teals and blues. This was my way of recreating what I felt that day, of holding onto that truth a little longer, of truly digesting the wisdom that unfolded in front of me. Revelation is more than just a scene; it is my personal testament to the power of perspective, to the understanding that sometimes, the answers we seek have been waiting for us all along.
Through this painting, I hope to share that experience—the beauty of letting go, of seeing with fresh eyes, and of embracing the quiet certainty that comes when we finally stop searching and simply see.

“Mysterious Ways” invites you to pause and take in the incredible view from Tent Ridge, looking down towards Spray Lakes. It’s a reminder that nature works in mysterious ways, connecting us to moments that make us feel grounded and certain that we are exactly where we’re meant to be. Standing at the top of the mountain, gazing at the horizon, there’s a quiet strength that emerges—a knowing that we are part of something bigger. The view doesn’t just offer a scene, but a sense of clarity, reminding us that sometimes the journey leads us exactly to the place where we need to be, even if we didn’t realize it at the time.

There’s something about the stillness of an early morning in the mountains—the way the world holds its breath just before the sun crests the peaks. Daybreak captures that fleeting, golden moment, a reminder that every sunrise is a fresh start, a quiet promise of new beginnings.
This painting was inspired by my hike up Wind Ridge, where I paused, compelled to take in the beauty of the morning light spilling over the mountains. The sky with a new glow, washing away the darkness, and in that moment, I felt hope, possibility, the quiet strength of a new day unfolding.
Sunrises and sunsets are nature’s way of reminding us to pause, to be present. They mark the closing of a chapter and the beginning of another, without expectation, without judgment—just an invitation to move forward. Daybreak is about that moment of transition, the deep breath before stepping into what comes next.
We don’t always know what the day will bring, but the sunrise reminds us that we get to try again, to see the beauty in the simple things, to embrace the light. It’s a moment of reflection, of gratitude, of standing still long enough to feel the warmth on your face and know, deep down, that you’re exactly where you’re meant to be.

In the heart of my Soulful Wonders of the Wild Collection stands a vibrant testament to the resilience of nature and the human spirit: "Crimson Valor." Each stroke of bold red textured paint echoes the courage and sacrifice of brothers Severe & Ernest Ruault, hero’s of the Second World War. As I immersed myself in the creation of this painting, I found myself drawn to the majestic peaks, each one a silent guardian against the passage of time.
Gazing upon the peak of Ruault Mountain, I couldn't help but marvel at the profound connection between nature and memory. It's as if the mountain itself holds within its rocky embrace the stories of those who have come before us. When I sit atop these sentinels after an enduring hike, I feel more alive and, in a sense, safe. The panoramic view from the summit seems to whisper tales of triumph and resilience, reminding me of the strength within myself. In honoring Sergeant Ruault through this artwork, I am reminded of the unbreakable bond between humanity and the natural world—a bond that offers solace, inspiration, and a profound sense of belonging.
